Reducing Import Dependency and Promoting Localization: New Initiatives of the Directorate
The Directorate for the Management of Small and Youth Industrial Zones of Tashkent City held open roundtable discussions with entrepreneurs operating in the Bektemir and Uchtepa small industrial zones. The main objective of these discussions is to reduce the dependency of enterprises in the industrial zones on imports and to increase the level of localization in production.
In this regard, a special showroom was established at the Directorate’s premises. The showroom primarily features products imported from abroad, which are demonstrated to entrepreneurs. This initiative aims to guide them in implementing new projects, increasing production volumes, and creating competitive products in the domestic market.
The Directorate’s main activity directions for reducing imports and promoting localization are as follows:
-
Identifying local suppliers and supporting localization — engaging local enterprises in import-substituting production.
-
Developing new markets and projects, strengthening cooperation — fostering cooperation among participants of industrial zones.
-
Training and consulting services — providing knowledge and skills tailored to entrepreneurs’ needs.
-
Assisting in attracting government support and enhancing export potential — encouraging export-oriented projects.
-
Full support for new projects — offering turnkey comprehensive solutions.
Through these initiatives, the Directorate aims to stimulate local manufacturers, diversify industry, and expand opportunities for young entrepreneurs.
